I’ve just completed back to back book tours for The Oleander Sisters, written as Elaine Hussey, and The Language of Silence, written as Peggy Webb. It was great to see so many of you. I hope I was smiling. Chatting with a reader about one of my novels is always amazing and gives me plenty to smile about.
It’s not always easy, though. Often there are things going on in a writer’s life that you don’t see and would never guess. This year’s tours have been especially hard for me because one of my dearly beloved brothers-in-law has stage 4 cancer. I asked the two publishers to please plan signings that would not take me away from home for long stretches of time. They did that, and I am grateful. The good news is that my brother-in-law finished his chemo, and the oncologist says it was very successful. The cancer is quiet now, joyful news for us.
And yet, cancer still colors my life. The upcoming holidays take on a special significance because of it. In fact, every family event is tinted with the question, what if.
My writing has changed from long stretches of uninterrupted time with my characters to short bursts of found time. That’s why you’ll discover my latest Southern Cousins Mystery, Elvis and the Buried Brides, is a quick read. I just could not carve out the time to write a longer book. Still, I hope you’ll love it.
Elvis and the Buried Brides, a comedic mystery, is exclusive to Risky Brides, A Bestsellers’ Collection for a limited time. This is a collection you don’t want to miss. It’s eclectic and it includes two other exclusive reads, a clean-read novel by the incredible Vicki Hinze and a quick read by the smashing new team of thriller writers, Piper Bayard and Jay Holmes.
It’s exciting to introduce new writers to our fans. It’s also exciting to team with beloved, bestsellling writers Vicki Hinze, Kathy Carmichael, Donna Fletcher, Rita Herron, Tara Randel, and Kimberly Llewellyn.
I’m giving away a signed copy of Elvis and the Blue Christmas Corpse to one lucky person who comments on today’s blog. I’m also giving away three digital copies of Risky Brides to three other lucky winners. I will announce the winners on this blog. You will have two weeks to claim your prize.
Thanks for stopping by.
